Herene Hereen where are you

My four times grandfather was Matthew Herene, as given on the wedding certificate of his daughter Mary who was born abt 1830 in Tipperary. I have found only one - Mathew Herene in Bruis. But there are also Herene, notably James and Joannah who are living in Clonmel in 1901. I believe James may be a nephew though I am not sure. Mathew Herene seems a distinct name. I suspect Bruis doesn't exist, but it was his location on Griffith's Valuation. Mary went to London when she was young, is found on the 1841 census and we are sure it is her as it is the same address as her marriage certificate.I am interested in Mathew and his family, gravesites, baptisms and of course Mathew's marriage. A Mathew Herene died in 1886, registered Tipperary, a Mary Herene died the same quarter and year, they were 80 and 79 yrs. Does anyone know this surname and anything about them? new member.

Hi Janice

Have I got herenes for you?! There are 11,989 birth/baptisms of them on www.rootsireland.ie/ using standard surname search but exact match only has 7 which are:

Mary 1873 Mary 1875 Matthew 1875 Ellen 1877 Michael  1878 Catherine 1881 David 1885

All are in Tipperary and all from BANSHA Civil District Parish

The site charges to view the records but if you purchase 1 (Matthew) and it has a parent's name you can then search with that name in the search criteria to verify which were the siblings.

If that isn't clear paost again if you get a parent's name.

Thanks Col. for your quick help

thousands would surely be daunting, so I am glad to have it narrowed down by you. I like the suggestion. I will review what I found through searches about James beforehand, as I think they may be his children. Mathew's daughter Mary Herene born abt 1830 Tipperary appears in London with two older sisters (much older), in 1841, thus a marriage of Mathew in the thirty years preceding her birth, probably to a Mary, and a baptism for Mary are part of the quest. Perhaps someone following knows, have the existing Tipperary R.C. parish records been indexed, or imaged for searching, and where they could be found? I have not ruled out taking the long road to Tipperary.

Jan I checked again and 6 of the 7 records have father James; the 1875 Mary doesn't so that solves that question.

You might want to see if there's a Bansha Parish board on the site and post to that.

Col - this poster has created a new message but I have added here for continuity purposes, Clare

I have done two recent posts and as I made a mistake on dates of the family I am hoping to find I wish to correct it. Mary Herene was born abt 1843 had father Mathew, was from Tipperary, and is on the 1851 census for Southwark Surrey London. She is with Margaret and Ellen Herene. Ellen Herein (the spelling) seems to be on the 1841 census in southwark by herself. Ellen and Margaret Herene were single and born in Tipperary between 1811 and 1816. thank you

Hi Clare, just noticed your post on my searching of my Herreen's. Hope you get to see this message, as yours was awhile ago. My Herreen's came to Australia 1841 aged in their early 20's. I have done dna with Ancestry and uploaded to other sites!

Cheers

Well it has been a long time. I'm not sure how I missed this message. I went to Dublin shortly after and purchased three certificates for a Mathew Herene or Herene and his wife Mary, both died in Bruis area with their son James in attendance and their deaths were registered in Thurles. I investigated James and his family so the names given me in 2014 will be cross checked with the census information. I discovered a daughter including her passport photo went to the United States with a bit of an imaginary birthdate. But it was indeed true she was the granddaughter of Mathew Herene as I've dna matches with her descendants and communicated with them. But I haven't come across Matches to Australia.I'll take another search of the name there...I haven't yet been in actual Bansha, Tipperary area because it is quite difficult we don't drive. I would like to go and to try to find the cemetery they were likely to have been buried. My dna is on ancestry and a couple of other sites, I'm Jana11 on the Gedmatch site and My tree on ancestry is called Heath and Hangrath. As for the third certificate it was for a man named I think Mathew hereene age 100 who died in the Union Workhouse..I think it was Tipperary. I like to think he was Mathew,s father and that there was still a Herene or two about to visit him.
