You don't mention when Henry left Ireland and went to the USA. The 1857 Griffiths Valuation for Co. Leitrim shows a Henry Nesbitt along with other Nesbitts living in Cloonboniagh South townland in Mohill civil parish. Mohill is right next to Cloone parish. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/leitrim/mohill.htm
You don't mention the religious denomination for the family or when James was born. Possibly there are baptismal records available on Roots Ireland.

It's been several years since this post. Henry Nesbitt was born around 1828 and moved to New York in 1849. He was registered with the Episcopal Church in NY so assumed he was Church of Ireland. He passed away in 1886 and Letters of Administration indicate that he left property to his son, James Nesbitt, in Cloone Parish in leitirm. Additional location was listed as Drumhas. His father may also have been named Henry.
Henry has been a brickwall for many years, we have not been able to pin down his birthplace.
