Helping Dad with his Search
Hi-
My question is two-fold:
1. My father has a US naturalization document for Morris (Maurice) Quinn dated 1856. We know that he was born somewhere around 1800 in Ireland. Does anyone have any more information about him? We believe his father's name is Jeremiah, and his mother's name may be Julia. I don't have notes on a possible maiden name for her.
2. The naturalization document indicates that Morris/Maurice was from "Caprohollow" in Country Kerry. I have not been able to find a reference to "Caprohollow" on any internet searches. I wonder if it could be "Cappanthlarrig", and the person providing the naturalization papers was unsure of how to spell what is obviously a Gaelic name, and probably spoken with a strong accent.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Yours from across the Pond,
Melissa Briscoe
