Help with old place name in County Cork

My mother's family - her maiden name was Lynch - came from County Cork. My third-great-grandfather was Daniel Lynch who moved from County Cork to Wales in the 1830s and then the family came to America in the 1860s. On the 1851 Wales census, his birthplace is listed as Bartholomew,Balinsterry, Cork, Ireland, which is likely the Bartlemy and Ballinterry area near Rathcormac.

What I wondered is this: In the 19th century, did people in theBartlemy/Ballinterryarea of County Cork refer to it as Bartholomew because of the St. Bartholomew's Holy Well, which is nearby in thetownlandofGarryantaggart?

Also Ilearnedthat the Catholic Church inBartlemyis St. Bartholomew's. Would residents of that area of Cork sometimes give their Catholic parish name as their parish?

If you have any insights on these questions, I'd appreciate your help.

Hello KCmike, I am looking at unanswered queries and we must have no one who knows the answers, you could try the Cork library or see if there is a local history group online.

There is an Irish Placename group on Facebook also and they may assist see https://www.facebook.com/groups/2828389077237798
