I dont see any townland or village named Richfordstown, but I did manage to locate a Richfordstown House abt 8km (~ 5 miles) east of the town of Clonakilty, see OSI Map c1840 - it's located in Maulmacredmond townland, which is in Templequinlan civil parish.
In tems of Ecclesiastical parishes, Templequinlan was a Church of Ireland parish, but for earlier records, i.e. pre 1819, it was part of a parish union of 'Kilnagross, Templequinlan and Templeomalus'. The Catholic Parish for the area was Clonakilty.
Thank you! I'll look at the parishes you mentioned.
Sheila
Many years later, but perhaps worth noting: Richfordstown is Maulmacredmond: Meall Mhic Reamoinn. Used variously in early 19th c documents.
Catholic parish is Clonakilty.
My gg grandfather John Donovan was born there, and records identify the family as Donovan Maol or Meall. There are some members of this family in Cashekisky, a few miles west. Any info would be appreciated. Possibly Maol/Meall indicates a long-time association with this townland.
Sheila, if you have family from Richfordstown it might be worth comparing notes,
Ellen
