help finding Thomas Donohoe family

Hi there, I have been looking for the Thomas Donohoe family for 20+ years. the newest update on Ancestry.com has my Aunts DNA origins puts our family in West Cavan/ South Leitrim. Even with that precise information, I'm not finding the family i need. I see that Donohoe is a very common name but the family members I know about aren't there. Thomas Donohoe b, 1812 married Mary Looby, b 1817 and had 6 children in Ireland. Thomas b 1838, Catherine and Hanora b 1841, Mary b 1842, Ellen b 1843 and Margret b 1848. I just got a 1 month subscription to Roots Ireland and would like to get the most out of that!  Any guidance would be much appreciated!  Side note, Mary Looby has been connected to the Looby family in Cappawhite Co Tipperary so I've been focusing there but am not finding anything there.

If your Donohoe family was from Co. Cavan and you can't find any baptismal records, there are two possibilities. First, you may not have the correct maiden name for the wife of Thomas Donohoe or the RC parish where the baptisms occurred does not have records available for the 1830s and 1840s. Lavey RC records are not even included since the baptismal records start in 1867  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0848  There are a number of other RC parishes that have late start records.

I did a search on Roots Ireland for all of Ireland for baptismal records of any children of Thomas Donohoe and Mary Looby. One record came up and I'm sure this is for an unrelated family. It was a record for a Honora Donoghue in April 1851 in Co. Limerick.

You asked for guidance in searching RootsIreland.  A couple of suggestions...

--Mary Looby's name might also be given as Mary Donohue in her children's birth records.

--Mary's first name might also be given as Ellen or Elizabeth (saw these names on some U.S. records).

--Honoria can also be Honora, Nora, Honor.

--Ellen can be Helen or Eleanor.
