Grandparents: Naughton

Hello

I’m looking for any information on my Grandfather James Francis Naughton born in Shanagolden, Eire. Migrated to Australia at approx. 1934

with his sister Kathleen Naughton. His father was Thomas Naughton married to Margaret Naughton- (Maiden name- Neville).

Believed, they also lived near Askeaton.

I am aware they may also have a cousin in the area called Sean Naughton.

Religious denomination: Catholic

I am travelling to the area on August 25th 2025 and was hoping someone may be able to help with possible housing/land of

where they lived, schools or churches they may have attended or where Thomas or Margaret Naughton maybe buried.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Deb,

If you are coming to Ireland in August, you should fill out the meet and greet form on this website. A local volunteer might be able to help you find places in the area.

Maybe James' father's death record.

Deb:

Mary and Eileen have done great work in researching your family. Here is our Meet and Greet form if you are interested.  https://irelandxo.com/meet-and-greet

Hi Roger,

Agreed Mary and Eileen have been absolutely amazing. I can't believe how quickly they were able to find this information. Yes, I would love to fill out the meet and greet info but I am unsure of what to key in based on the information Mary and Eileen have provided. My aim was to see either the home(if still there) or the land in which they may have lived, a school or church they may have been to or any grave sites.

But I don't know out of the list of options for which county and which town village drop down box to choose from? Any help regarding this would be wonderful...

Thanks Deb

Deb Kampl

Deb:

I reviewed the documents above and your Naughtons moved around somewhat. When you fill out the Meet and Greet form show the civil parish of Kilbradran from the drop down box. In the remarks I would copy and paste this message thread so our coordinator can see all of the background. I would also indicate in the remarks that Ballylin townland in Kilmoylan civil parish was where the Naughtons were in 1852.

Kilbradran and Kilmoylan civil parishes are south of Shanagolden in the northwest corner of Co. Limerick.

If you have any further issues with submitting the Meet and Greet request, let me know here by adding another comment. I will then notify our coordinator via email.

Hi Roger,

I posted a message in reply the other day but not sure it has gone through to you.

Thank you for the information- I will request a meet and greet and let you know if I require any further assistance.

Thanks so much for your efforts

Deb
