Ginty, Cloonacool, early 1800s

I'm looking for any records or information pertaining to my gg-grandfather Richard Ginty (McGinty) b.1816 in Sligo, probably Achonry.

His father was probably Bartly (short for Bartholomew) I think his mother was Catherine Armstrong.

Richard had a younger sister Mary (b.1824) with whom he traveled to the states in the mid to late 1840s

Richard married a Mary Henry (father was Andrew Henry) after he arrived in Massachusetts but I see records from Achonry that show Ginty, Henry, and Armstrong listed on the same page so perhaps that marriage was planned before they left Ireland.

If anyone has or can find information that adds to this story I'd be grateful.

-Actual records or information about Richard or his parents or other siblings.

-Confirmation of specific locations where they lived

I'd LOVE to connect with any living relatives descended from those siblings that stayed behind.

Michael:

The RC church records for Cloonacool RC parish and Achonry RC parishes start too late to be helpful to you. From the Griffiths Valuation data from 1858, the majority of Ginty households were in Kilmacteige civil parish.

I would suggest that you consider a general DNA test and possibly you will get matches on your Ginty/Henry line which may further your research.

In the Tithe Applottment Books, there were two [Bartholomew] Gintys listed as heads of household in 1827. Click on the name to see the record.

In the above, the name listed on the Tithe Applotments page directly above Barthly of Castlecarrow is Luke ARMSTRONG.

Michael,

Because you mentioned Coolnacool, I found a record for a Richard Genty born there in 1877 on Ancestry. His sponsor was Bartholomew Genty. Richard's, father, Patrick, might be a relative of your Richard.
