Hi, I am looking for any information relating to Miles/Myles Gerrity. Born about 1827, left for America 1848 on the Isaac Wright from Liverpool. I have a ton if info after he arrived in New York but absolutely no trace of him in Ireland before
he left. The ships manifest only shows his name. No further info before that.
Thanks in advance for any help you might give.

James:
The subscription site Roots Ireland has a January 5 1827 baptismal record for a Myles Geherty in the RC parish of Lurgan. Parents were shown as Patrick Geherty and Mary Neil. This Myles had a number of younger siblings.
I would treat this record as a lead. There are many RC parishes in Ireland which do not have records back to 1827 and possibly your Myles was born in one of those parishes.

Roger, Thanks so much for that lead. It actually fits some of the stories I heard as a kid concerning where in Ireland our people came from
This is the best lead I have had in many years.
Thanks again,
J Gerrity
