Gault/Clifton/McNeilly

I am looking for information regarding my grandfather James Clifton's family. James was born approximately 1907 , lived in Ballyclare Urban and he moved to the USA maybe around 1927.

My great great Grandmother is Jane Gault. She is a daughter of a farmer. I think Jane was born in 1863. The 1911 census for Antrim, Ballyclare Urban has Jane Gault head of household, her daughter Lizzie Jane Clifton (born 1884), grandson James Clifton (born 1907), & nephew Thomas McNeilly (born 1894) living at 12 Ballyeaston Rd, Ballyclare. They were all Presbyterian.   I think someone in the family owned or worked at a drycleaners.

I tried looking in church records, etc, but when I looked at Antrim, I do not find Ballyclare even being listed.

I live in the USA. I was actually in Ballyclare this summer, but I mistakenly thought my grandfather grew up in Belfast. So upset I was where he actually grew up & didnt know it.

Clarification- I assume Gault is Jane's married name. How does the Clifton name connect?

Regards- Mary

James might have come to USA via Canada.

Here’s the 1893 marriage between William Gault and Jane Clifton (maiden name Beggs) a widow. Both lived in Ballymena at that date and the marriage was at High Kirk (aka Ballymena 2nd Presbyterian church).

Here’s Jane’s first marriage in 1880 in Larne:

James died in 1890:

Letters of Administration of the personal estate of James Clifton late of Glenwherry County Antrim Farmer who died 15 February 1890 at same place were granted at Belfast to Jane Clifton of Glenwherry the Widow.

Looks as though Jane had reverted to the surname Clifton by 1901:

I don't know where William Gault was then.

James Clifton’s birth in 1906. (He was illegitimate):

Lizzie Jane’s birth in 1883:

I can see a birth for Margaret Clifton on 2nd Jan.1882 and Ellen on 8.11.1888.

Does anyone know how I can determine the dates my Granfdather (James Clifton) lived in Ontario Canada? He traveled from Ballyclare to Corneall Canada. Then went from Ontario Canada to USA in March 1930. Since he had British citizen, I have a relative wondering if he is eligible for dual citizenship with Canada (we are citizens of usa)
