Perhaps you can give us some more details on your Galbraith family to narrow the search? Griffiths Valuation for the parish of Kilkeel in 1863 has 3 Galbraiths. David & John with farms and Thomas with a farm labourers house. Your photo suggests a farmhouse, not a labourer’s cottage, so probably Thomas can be excluded. If you can give us a bit more detail it may be possible to suggest where the house was/is. The 2 farms are on the south side of the town but without knowing which might be your ancestor’s it’s difficult to say with certainty.
I recognize it. It was my grandfather's home in Kilkeel. It is no longer standing as it was torn down and the land subdivided. I was there in 1989 and have a photo from that time and the family tree if you are interested.
That’s fantastic! I would love to see your photo and also your tree. I have another photo, poorer quality of I though a different house, but it’s from a long way off. I will share tomorrow.
when I started my searching a few years ago I was getting things fast and furious as I had little. In the last year or so I guess my enthusiasm waned a bit as well but this will get me going !
to communicate do you prefer emailing directly or through this platform? I’m happy to share my email and direct you to my tree on ancestry I have loaded photos there of my grandmothers maybe you may have names for the ones I don’t have or vice versa.
thx so much for responding
Doug
My grandfather was James Galbraith, son of Samuel, born 1874. His sister, Anna, was the last of the family to live in that house. Who was your grandmother? Email would be great. My email is marygalbraith009@gmail.com.
