Maybe the (civil) parish of Killuran which is in the Barony of 'Tulla Lower' ?
The corresponding Catholic Parish was 'O Callaghans Mills, Clonlea, Killuran' (NLI Register Link)

Oh My Word! Thank you, Shane! Can only suppose that the spelling in the newspaper had something to do with spelling of the informant....and perhaps a heavy brogue? Thank you- and now on to more searching for the origins of one of my immigrant relatives!

Anne Marie.
Rev. Michael Carroll was at SS peter and Paul Parish in Alton, Ill. Do your O'Days connect to there?
History - St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church | Alton, IL
Per an article, "The Rev. Michael Carroll was born in Effin, County Limerick, Ireland."

There is a village called Tubber in north county Clare, it is about six miles from the village of Corofin on the road to Gort. There is a townland called Culleen, I wonder if this is the area in question. O'Day in it's many forms is a County Clare name.
Anne Marie,
Maybe??
There was an Ann Odea who came to New York in May 1853. She was travelling with another Odea, but I couldn't transcribe first name. It might have been John.
An Ancestry tree shows this Honora being born in Clare, on 12 Oct. 1838, married James Purcell in Ny 1857, and living in Flint, Michigan where she dies in 1827. Her father is identified as John Day on her death certificate.

There was a Winny Odea coming over Feb. 1853. She was travelling with a Mary Odea, age 17. I did not find a Clare connection. She might have stayed in New York. They might have all travelled to NY separately.

WOW!! Thank you Mary TV and Eileen and Shane! A lot to start checking in order to find my THOMAS O'DAY. From his 1894 NYC death certificate, his wife said he was born in 1826 Ireland with parents James and Mary. Of course, we know that years are approximate......Not sure how many years he was in USA nor when/where he married Catherine Houlihan (b. Ireland 1841- d. NYC 1900) of parents Nora and Michael Houlehan.
I am headed down the rabbit hole now to see if there are extended family/friends from the information you retrieved related to the Boston Pilot column I saw.
THANK YOU!
Am grateful for your input.
Have joined the O'Dea Clan and hope to have this solved by the next gathering in 2028 so I can visit the townland of those ancestors!
