Fox family in Ahascragh, 1905 onwards. Burials, and when did they leave?

I wonder can anyone help me find out more about My grandmother Josephine Fox and her family, please?

She was born to parents Charles James Fox (who lived with his family in 57 Ahascragh, and worked as a Coach Trimmer until he signed up to go the War in 1915.

Charles James Fox and his wife Annie Westcott had married in Liverpool in 1904 and had their first child Marion Fox there soon after, then they came directly to Ahascragh, where he had a job as a Coach Trimmer.

The family lived happily there for years, having the following children, all born in Ahascragh:

William Henry P Fox, 28 Feb 1906

Mary Ethel Fox, 11 May 1907

Alexander George Fox 6 Jul 1908-20 May 1909 (died in Ahascragh. Would he have been buried in Fohenagh?

Jospehine Fox 28 Mar 1910 (my grandmother)

Charles James Fox 7 May 1912

Arthur Fox 21 Mar 1913 - 8 June 1913 (?) (died in Ahascragh. I'm not totally sure of the death date. Would he have been buried in Fohenagh?

After their father had gone to war at the end of 1915, the family left Ireland, presumably to go back to Liverpool. I'm not sure why, as Annie's mother had already died young. Does anyone know when they left Ahascragh, please? Their mother Annie Fox (nee Westcott) died in 1920 while my grandmother Josie was only 10.

I am an Irish citizen myself and would love to find out more.

Any help would be most welcome.

Thanks.

Hi Julie, I am looking over old queries that were not answered.

It is unlikely that your query here would be stumbled upon although a Google search would turn it up, we must not have a local volunteer from the actual area.

You might find more information with a query on one of the private Galway Genealogy Facebook pages, which tend to have local members.

During the war there was a 1916 revelution in Ireland and later a rise in national identity leading to the War of Independence etc sit the family may have felt it better to leave but not sure it was a thing.

Regards

Pat
