My be difficult finding his parents names.
Garrygaug townland is in Muckalee civil parish and the RC parish is also Muckalee. Unfortunately, the baptismal records for Muckalee have a big gap between 1806 and 1839 and John's baptismal record is not available. The marriage record is below from 1861 found on the subscription site Roots Ireland. Civil registration of RC marriage started in 1864 I located the 1901 census record in Garrygaug. Somewhere between 1901 and 1906, John and Catherine moved to Owning town. Catherine died in 1906 (see below) and I also have the 1911 census record.
The 1849 Griffiths Valuation head of household reocrds does not show any Foleys.I was hoping to find a possible lead for the father.

Thanks Rodger, unconfirmed rumors that John Foley was not a native of Garygaugue and accepted a posting of a school teacher , county of birth is not know, it is possible Co Waterford may be one as Foley is a common name is parts. Perhaps someone with better genealogy skills than me may be able to explore. Take care. John
