Tom,

I have checked Ancestry, RootsIreland, and Irishgenealogy and have found no record of Philip's baptism. Some trees on Ancestry suggest he was born in Dublin. In Ireland the eldest son was named after the father's father. Philip's eldest son was Francis, a possibility.

Hi, I have an Irish ancestor caIIed Philip who is sometimes recorded as Phelim or Felix. Perhaps your Philip is recorded under another name?

About your Philip's marriage. It would have been unusual at the time for someone from Galway to marry across the country in Dublin.  Are you sure the record you found is the correct one? Good luck!
