ENRIGHT

Looking for information for John Enright ( Enwright, Enraght) born 1816 to 1830 inLimerick. Found a lot of Enraght in Shangolden but couldn't find him. He married Mary Hayes ( 1820 to 1828).who family rumour is from Cork. I don't know when or where they married. They came to Upper Canada before 1847 where theirson was born in St. Catharines. They lived there until 1902 when they both died. They are buried in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Any help or direction would be most appreciated.

Hi Patricia,

We will need to narrow it down a bit before we can find John Enright and Mary Hayes, there are 41 baptism records for people with the name John Enright between 1816 and 1826 alone and 168 matches for Mary Hayes.  Do you know their age at the time of death so that we can have another look?

Thanks for your reply. There are many census reports that give various DOB for John Enright ( 1816 to. 1830).   The Ontario Government that records his death states that he died March 2, 1902 in Lincoln County St. Catharines Ontario.

They state his age at 72, his estimated birth year abt 1830. That would make him 17 at the birth of her first son and the first record I can find for him being in Canada.

His wife Mary ( Hayes ) died August 17, 1902 and her age is 72 and estimated birth year is also about 1830. I can't find out where they married. I have searched your National Library for Church Records with no luck.

I know that the Irish tradition was to repeat the parents names. Their six children were Thomas (1847) Anna or Annie (1852) Marion or Mary (1853), James Joseph (1859), Dennis (1860) and William (1866). They were Roman Catholics.

Anything you can uncover would be most gratefully appreciated.
