Emma Longbourn

Limerick

My Grandmother (Emily May Shaw) was born in Limerick in 1882 and her mother's maiden name is shown as Emma Longbourn. It is Emma I am trying to trace. Later UK census entries show her to have been born in "County Athlone", Irelandbut in 1882 shewas married to a soldier and her address is shown as Edward Street (New Barracks), Limerick. Her date of birth is shown in the same census as 1853. I have tried, without success, to find her in Irish records and would be very grateful for any information about her, or suggestions as to how I might pursue the search further. I am happy to come to Ireland to look at records but, in view of so many records having been lost, Ido not have any idea of where to start.

Thanks in anticipation

Birth of Emily May Shaw in 1882 for reference - place of birth is Edwards Street, Limerick, father address New Barracks. Parents Frederick Shaw corporal 76th Regiment, mother Emma Longbourn.
Baptism of Emily (RootsIreland) took place at St. Michael's Garrison, Church of Ireland. As far as I can the 76th Regiment of Root was disbanded in 1881 and merged in the 33rd (Duke of Wellington's) Regiment.

No sign that I can see so far of other children or a marriage of Frederick & Emma in Ireland...

The Church of Ireland parishes for Athlone town are St. Mary's based in Co. Westmeath, and St. Peter's in Co. Roscommon. Records for St. Mary's go back to 1768, while records for St. Peter's only seem to be available back to to the 1870s, both are available in the Representative Church Body Library, in addition RootsIreland has some transcripts for these parishes.
