Ellen evans

I have been going through the print outs of births for my grandmother Margaret jane Evans who was married to Robert evans march 31st 1902.

They sadly lost there first child ,the second son on the 1911 census is James who would have been born in 1903.

After looking through the civil records I found a James evans but his birth mother is Ellen evans ,singel and employed as a servant, could it be that this is Margaret Jane's sister and that Margaret and Robert raised him as thier own,as I'm sure she wouldn't have been able to keep the child herself.

Iv been trying to find info on Ellen evans and coming up blank.

Any help would be fantastic.

Kiwi,

Yes, it could be that Ellen was a sister of Margaret Jane and that Robert and Margaret Jane raised James as their son. In 1876, William Evans and Sarah Evans née Peel had a daughter Ellen at Rathbrack, Co. Meath. In 1883, William Evans and Sarah Evens née Peel had a daughter Margaret at Ballyfore, Co. Meath. When Margaret was married in 1902 she gave her father's name as William and in 1911 she says she was born in Co. Meath.

Best wishes, Kieran
