Ellen Driscoll and John Hanlon of County Cork

I am looking for information on Ellen Driscoll (father Jeremiah), born about 1820 who married John Hanlon, born about 1810. They are both from County Cork. It is possible that Ellen is from Skibbereen. Family story has that they were both in Australia. Their daughter Mary was born in South Cardiff, Wales in 1856 and they were in Ohio, USA by 1858. Thank you!!!

Marty:

Driscoll is a very common surname in Co. Cork. I searched on the free site irishgenealogy.ie (Church Tab) and found three Ellen Driscoll baptismal records in Skibbereen with father Jeremiah. The years were 1821 mother Ellen Conolly, 1827 mother Ellen Shea, 1829 mother Ellen Regan. There were additional Ellen Driscoll records in other parishes. I did not find an Ellen Driscoll/John Hanlon marriage record.

Thank you. I also found those three records. Do you have any suggestions for me? My family story is that Ellen was convicted of stealing a shawl and was in prison in Australia. I found an Ellen Driscoll convicted of stealing a shawl in Skibbereen and sentenced to 2 months factory labor there, not Australia. I have found no transportation records to Australia, Wales or the US. If Ellen married John in Australia, would there be a record?

Marty:

I'm not familiar with the availability of Australian marriage records. Have you tested your DNA? You may get matches on your Driscoll line that might help in determining her mother's maiden name.
