I am trying to find out where my Great, great Grandmother came from. She was born in Ireland about 1830/32. Married Thomas Bradshaw in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia in 1855. They had 9 children. Her mother may have been a convict from County Galway named Mary Curran. This is the only information I can find re Ellen Curran.

There are very few records in Ireland pre 1840, offical registration only started in 1864.
Australian shipping records show an Ellen Curran, Enniscorthy, Wexford emigrating to NSW in 1849, aged 16. Have you requested a copy of the Marriage record? Does it show parents names.

Thank you Gerard for your reply. I have only just discovered it, sorry. I don't know if this is my Ellen. I think she would have emigrated to Victoria before moving to Tasmania. I must try and get a copy of her marriage certificate. I have her record of marriage in Hobart 1855. Ellen married a convict, Thomas Bradshaw. There is no mention of her parents or where she came from in Ireland. Kind regards, Mary Overbeek
