Elizabeth CASSIDY b. abt. 1800 Dublin & Matthew CASSIDY b. abt. 1802 Dublin

Dublin

Hello,

I live in Australia and have 2 Irish convict ancestors that I would appreciate some help with please.

Elizabeth CASSIDY b. abt. 1800-1803 Dublin was convicted at Lancaster January 1821 and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment & again in January 1822 sentenced to 7 years transportation to Australia. In both instances she was recorded as Elizabeth FINNEGAN. Her convict records recordher as "Elizabeth FINNEGAN wife of Michael FINNEGAN. Native of Dublin". (I do not believe they married and I have no idea when they moved to Lancaster).

Elizabeth's brother Matthew CASSIDY b. abt. 1802-1806 convicted 1820 at Newgate Dublin and sentenced to 7 years transportation. A few years after receiving his Certificate of Freedom he returned to Ireland only to be apprehended again in1832 in Dublin and sentenced to transportation for life to Australia- this time using the name of Charles HALL.

I would love to be able to find out when these 2 were born/baptised and who their parents were.

They are both recorded as being Roman Catholic. Elizabeth's profession was shown as a confectioner & Matthew was shown to be aweaver on his first sentence and then a fisherman on his second sentence.

I would be very grateful for some help on these 2 if at all possible.

Kind regards,

There are no Cassidys in any county in the 1821 Irish Census

I couldn't find a marriage for Finnegan - Cassidy from any year or county
