Edward Newman/Margaret McCormack Family

My great great grandparents Edward Newman and Margaret McCormack (married about 1841) immigrated to Brooklyn NY during the 1860’s. They came with five (or six children) Patrick, William?, Elizabeth, Ellen, Edward and John. My great grandfather was John. They may have been from County Longford. The father, Edward, may have sailed with sons Edward and John, and daughter Ellen on the Alexander Marshall in December 1863. Trying to find place of origin of this clan in Ireland and would like to visit if I find any clues.

Thank you Mary TV! These seem like great leads! I'm not sure how best to follow up on this. Any suggestions?

Jim

James,

Perhaps Edward and Margaret's death records could provide more info. I think you are on Ancestry. Do any of their children marriage or death records provide more info. You could also take a DNA test to see if you connect to the area mentioned above.

Regards- Mary

I do have a tree on Ancestry. My brother Michael and some cousins have done DNA so I'll check their matches to see if any are in Longford area. Thanks again! jim
