Edmond White

WaterfordTallow (Waterford)

My great grandmother, Ellen White, married Charles McCarthy in the Parish of Tallow. Her father was listed as Edmond White. I have not been able to find anything about him. There is Tithe record from 1825 from the Parish of Tallow that lists an Edmond White, but the transcription says the townland is "Jallas." I cannot find a townland by that name. The top of the record is very dark and unreadable.

Does anyone have an idea as to what townland it might be?

Thanking you in advance,

Cathy

The word is definitely Tallow. The "T" is pretty clear, given the handwriting at the time. The "w" is hard to see at the end, because the "o" in front of it is so sketchy.

In case you don't already have it, this link has more info about the civil parish of Tallow, and the townlands within it: https://www.townlands.ie/waterford/tallow1/

The Catholic parish records for Tallow, going back as far as 1797, are avaialble online at this link: https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1120
