Doran; Jermyn

I am searching for information on Dr. George Henry Doran and Bridget Driscoll Doran (1810-1874). Dr. Doran was a surgeon who lived in Sneem, Co. Kerry. Most of his children moved to the United States around the mid 1850s and settled in and around New Orleans, Louisiana. One daughter, Elizabeth Susanna Catherind Doran remained in Ireland and married Thomas Mayberry Jermyn. Their children were George David Jermyn, Catherine Davis Mary Jermyn, Thomas Mayberry Jermyn, Lionel John Jermyn, and William Mayberry Jermyn. I have been unable to locate information on George and Bridget. Their son's diary states that Bridget died February 8, 1874 in Kenmare, Co. Kerry at the age of 64 and that her obituary was published in the Kerry Evening Post. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I assume the family was RC. I could not locate any info on George and Bridget and their children on www.irishgenealogy.ie  I think the problem is the Sneem RC records that are available. The baptisms start in 1845-1848 then a gap and they pick up in 1857. Marriages do not start until 1858. http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0891

I could only find one Jermyn baptismal record.

Sdguidry,

I'm the granddaughter of Raymond Charles Doran, Sr., he is the great grandson of Dr. George Henry Doran and Bridget Driscoll. Unfortunately we just lost my grandfather  in March 2020 at the age of 98. Most of my grandfathers family including his nieces and nephews still live in the New Orleans area.

I just started researching our family genealogy and would love any information you have on our ancestry and family back in Ireland. If you have any questions about the family here in the New Orleans area please reach out.

Sincerely,

Akewin

Sorry Matthew but no it's not the same person. They were not born in Ireland. Good luck I hope you find him.

I think you are descended from George Doran and Elizabeth Lane, formerly Countess of Massereene. Contact me if you want more information, please.
