Maggie,

Can you provide his full name? When did he serve? Do you know when he died or if he got married? When and to whom? Did they have children?

Regards- Mary

Thanks for your response. I found a person who seems to fit William B Dollard b 1807 joined east India army 86ft foot disc 1853 to chelsea pensions married 1953 to maryan /marion fennell 3/4 children ( Michael joseph my my ancestor) he died dec. 1865 . I can’t find anything of his birth place or parents details. I did try to access in depth army records but was told they weren’t “old enough “ to be accessed.

Maggie

Maggie,

If his oldest son was Michael, using Irish naming patterns, his father's name would be Michael.

Those are the records I downloaded at Kew and decided to track him whether he is the same person I have married in carlow who knows it was just a hunch only DNA would solve all puzzles,!!!!!

Maggie

PS tried to access more in depth records hoping to find a parents name but last time I enquired the were not for release. Maggie

Maggie,

I agree you should get a DNA test. I am wondering if Mary Ann Melia was his wife??

It has been suggested on an Ancestry tree that Mary Ann was in an institute at this point.

Thank you for all that info will dud deeper, the “;present records “”should be easy to check. It’s the pre 1850 s which are the nightmare!!!!

Maggie

I have done my dna but no fennels / daoolards have surfaced so hence the searches

Maggie

Thank you for all your help I will have to concentrate on the “recent” history and leave the past in the past thanks again maggie
