Discovered another Possible Moan (Mowen) Sibling

FermanaghGalloon (Fermanagh)

I recently discovered that a niece and nephew of Michael Moan (born Dec 22 1865 to John and Rose Moan - Greaghcashel) Mowen, came to NYC to visit. They were Philip Tracey and Elizabeth Tracey, children of Philip Tracey (Tressy/Tracy and Rose Moan/Mowen - daughter of John Mowen both of Greagchasel). I am assuming that Rose Mowen was the sister of Michael who immegrated to the U.S.

I found the above information at www.traceyclann.com/files/fermanagh.htm.

I am trying to obtain a copy of the Philip Tressy and Rose Mowen marriage record, August 10, 1881. Philip was a widower when he married Rose. He was also named a widow on the 1901 Census, living with his two children, therefore the mother (Rose) died before the census was taken.

I am also trying to locate a birth record for Rose, assuming she was born between 1850 - 1865.

Can anyone help?

Movick,

Here’s a link to the 1881 marriage, in Clones RC chapel (Philip Tressy):

Judging by the ages of their children, Rose must have died between 1886 and 1901 but I don’t see the event in the indexes.

Roslea RC baptism records only start in 1862 so if Rose born before that (as seems quite possible, then there won’t be a record of her baptism. But you might want to check the records anyway in case she was born in 1862 or 1863, years that aren’t in the statutory birth records. The RC parish records are on-line free on the National Library site:

You could also check Clones records as they go back to the 1840s.
