Hi - am trying to find out more on the Dillon family. My 8x great grandfather was Thomas Dillon born around 1618 in Roscommon and died in Cornwall around 1666. Any information or pointers would be appreciated. Thank you.

John Dillon was transplanted from county Westmeath to county Roscommon in the 17th century. His descendants built Mount Dillon sometime early in the 18th century.
The Dillons came to Ireland at the time of the anglo-norman invasion. Sir Henry Dillon received from King John large grants of land in Westmeath and Annaly, known in later times as Dillon's country.
