Dennis Hanvey/Henvey and Mary Ann Small from Killough, County Down

Hello,

Was wondering if anyone can help me find the parents of a Dennis Hanvey/Henvey born about 1826 and Mary Ann Small born around 1831. Both came from Rathmullan Parish in County Down and both are Catholic. In Griffith’s valuation, Dennis was living in Killough. They were married around 1850 and some of their children were born in Killough and then they moved and had more children in Saint John’s Point . Dennis died in 1886 while Mary Ann died between 1901-1911. I believe both died in Saint John’s Point. Any help is appreciated!

Hello Chris, it appears from the RC registers site that church records for Killough only commence in 1856, there may be earlier ones but they are not on the regular sites or may even be held locally, https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0398?locale=en

There is a site for Down and it lists 4 Denis or Dennis including one will from 1836 also a lot of Hanvey but not sure of areas as I am not a local volunteer. https://rosdavies.com/SURNAMES/Afrontpage.htm

There is also a very active private Facebook page on County Down genealogy but mainly DNA based I think.
