Delaney in Shrule Co Mayo

Hi.

GLEESON. DELANEY

I'm researching ancestors who I think had some connection in Ballyhaunis Co Mayo. My search

which includes a DNA test of an Aunt has led me to the Delaney family. I have a non qualified marriage between

Andrew/Henry Gleeson and Mary Delaney some time around 1815 if she married at 20. Since then we have a DNA

match to a Julia Delaney born 1876 from Shrule/Ballinrobe.

I've not investigated this area but if anyone has details it would be much appreciated.

Glad to have found a qualified link.

Marriage of Patrick Delany, policeman, and Mary Macevoy. As a policeman, he would have been stationed around Ireland, not just in Mayo.

Morning Eileen and Patricia

Thank you again for your help in my search.

The Delaney link is quite new so I’ll need to tie in a few bits and pieces to make sure there’s a definite family connection.

The DNA test proves that Julia if a connection. Thanks to this information I can check to see where Mary Delaney is and if possible a marriage to Andrew (sometimes Henry which doesn’t help!!) Gleeson. If Patrick Delaney was a policeman, maybe he was posted to Ballyhaunis? Possibly the records might still survive. At the moment I’m assuming British police rather than Garda.

ive got a day searching graves in Derbyshire so as soon as I can I’ll be back on my search.

thank you again!!!!

David

Just an update to me research if it's of interest. I visited the local cemetry in Derbyshire to try to find more ancestor graves and came across these two, one showing Patrick Gleeson and you should be able to make out Ballyhaunis? The second is James Gleeson who married Bridget Haddican. This is the grave of their son but I need to clear the grass because I've a felling there's more on the stone

It certainly was a beautiful headstone, the detail is really lovely. Thanks for posting the pictures.
