Deen - Gortaneden, Castelemaine, Kerry

Looking for any info on the Deen (now spelt Deane) family from Gortaneden. I have all the info from 1900s on

Earliest Deen i have is Eugene Deen 1794 - 1891 who married Maria Sullivan probably around the 1840s. His father was also Eugene who married Margaret Carmody

looking for any siblings from these two Deens from that era

believed to be connected to the Castlegregory Deens and may have originated from townland of Carrigadav

Hi Raymond,

When researching Eugene, you might also find him called Owen.

I hope this is helpful.

Raymond,

The baptism records for the RC parish of Keel, where the townland of Gortaneden is located begin in 1815; so there will be no earlier records for the siblings of either Eugene. In the 1853 Griffith's Valuation, Eugene Dean (the younger) is listed as Owen Dean. You are probably aware that there is a Eugene Deen in the Griffith's in Carrigadav as well.

Regards,

Carolyn

Thanks

sorry I had the baptisms of Eugene and Mary Sullivans children, was hoping someone would have info on any of his siblings. Born to Eugene and Margaret Carmody

there maybe also a connection with the Deens of fahamore. I have a John Deen Fahamore on the board of guadians for Castlegregory in 1843

Raymond,

There was a Thomas Deen as a baptismal sponsor to Mary Deen (1853). That could be Eugene's brother...so, you might look for baptism records of Thomas' children - provided he had them; and you might be able to piece together more siblings. Again, if there were more. The baptism records for Eugene and Maria's children show many more Sullivan sponsors.

Regards,

Carolyn

It is fascinating reading about local history and family connections in that area. Earlier I checked https://casinosanalyzer.com/free-slots-online/Twin-Spin , and it reminded me how both stories and games can link generations through shared experiences.
