David Quinn

David Quinn came to colonial America (landing in Philadelphia) in 1685 aboard the ship "The Bristol Merchant" as a servant for Thomas Webb, a Dublin Linen Merchant. Webb was also a member of the House of Commons in 1685. We have not been able to locate any additional information on David Quinn, and I have actually visited the archives in Dublin but have had no luck.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

There are very few baptismal records going back to the 17th century so I don't think we can find any information on David Quinn.

I have reason to believe David Quinn lived in Clonmel, given that he worked for Thomas Webb who also lived in Clonmel. I've been told that there might be records in the Parish of Clonmel church. However, there is no rector there at the moment, so I don't know how one would search other than going there physically. I believe it is a Church of Ireland, which I expect the Webbs were members of. However, would David Quinn (being indentured) be likely to be Anglican too or more likely Catholic. Thank you!

The Church of Ireland parish in Clonmel has baptismal records back to 1791 and the records are held in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin.

David Quinn was likely Roman Catholic if he was indentured.
