corrells blacksmithing in Balinree

Jane Correll was born in Balinree, Kiltennel parish in 1848, daughter of John and jane, grand-daughter of William Correll.

her father and grandfather were both blacksmiths.

The family moved to Dublin after her mum died.

She married an english soldier in Dublin and had 7 sons (all serving soldiers) and a daughter (buried in Cork aged 4.)

Janes sister Hannah born balinree 1844, also married in Dublin, to a John Salmon.

be interested in any info about balinree, Kiltennel. Seems possiblethey moved to Dublin because of the famine, and her mum possiblydied in the local cholera outbreak following the famine?

Hello Edmund, not sure how bad the famine was in Wexford, coastal areas were less affected but the work of blacksmiths was greatly affected as most of the horses were used as food so no work. You can see the area here https://www.townlands.ie/wexford/ballaghkeen-north/kiltennell/courtown/…

Civil records are free here from 1864, start date for all, Protestant marriage from 1845, under church you can see both Dublin and Cork but only Kerry as well, that is all for now so you should find something in the church records for Dublin and Cork.
