Cornelius Haley

Looking for information regarding my great-great grandfather. The information I have is that he is from Knocklong, County Limerick Ireland. His name his Cornelius "Con" Haley. Not sure when he came to the States, but he was married in the US in Buffalo NY in 1833 to my great great grandmother, Mary Hannah Banks. She too was from Limirick according to my records.

I have a birth year of 1805 for him and 1808 for her. I am not sure of those years at all. The could have been at least five years difference--give or take for either of them. They were both Roman Catholic and I noticed that he and maybe she were in the parish ofKnocklong and Glenbrohane--again, I'm not sure. I would like to know if there is any record of them. I would assume because of the year and times that they did live in the same area. They both came to the states, I would like to know when, but I have no idea. Not that it is important, but my grandfather changed his name from Haley to Healy. Why I have "Con" in the middle of his full name is simply that I guess it is short for Cornelius. There were many male decendents with first name Cornelius.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I do not have any Irish records on them at all, only US records, and they aren't real clear. Thanks! USA PATT

Hi, I am looking at old queries and records for Knocklong (RC Church only commence in 1809), https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0265

I done a search to 1820 but found no Haley baptisms in Knocklong, however in the neighbouring parish of Knockainey & Patrickswell there were 3 baptisms to the one couple, Thomas Haley and Catherine Murphy and no other Haley records for that spelling or close. However it is not unusual to find no church recYOu ords exist at this time as some churches were much later using registers etc

If you are interested you could try some of the Limerick Genealogy groups on Facebook, private usually and apply to join and while they cannot find records that do not exist you may be very lucky and find a relation who knows a bit more.

Good Luck

Pat
