Cooley Family Tuam,Galway

I am seeking further information about the Cooley family in Tuam prior to 1852.  My great-great grandfather Martin Cooley (born 1827) emigrated to England probably during the 1840s. He married Mary McConnell formerly Hart, in Walsall in 1852.  On  the marriage certificate, Martin's father is given as John Cooley and on later censuses Martin gives his place of origin as Tuam.  Regrettably I have. been unable to find any trace of John or Martin"s mother.  Can anyone help with these or other family members who remained in Ireland?

I found this record in the name of John Cooly died 1875 , a widower, perhaps you could keep this in mind, watch for variations in spelling as it was common for this to occur.

I do not know this address , it is difficult to make out and may be short for a placename.

Eileen,

This name appears to be Liss in the \Civil Parish of Abbeyknockmoy.

Thanks for this Eileen, it is a possibility. Only observation I might make is that this John would have only been 17 when Martin was born.  Not impossible but wonder if he would be likely to have been married so young?
