Conlon - Patrick Roscommon

My wife’s ancestor is Patrick Conlon, and it is reported through a family story that he was originally from County Roscommon. He first shows up in Canada in 1861. He may have departed from Liverpool (we cannot prove but there was an Irish Conlon family in the 1847 Census with a Patrick Conlon of the right age). He was born 02 May 1832 and we are assuming Roscommon, Ireland from a family story that he came from that country. Any help with locating him in Ireland will be greatly appreciated.

I added a picture of his Blackthorn Fighting Stick.

The subscription site Roots Ireland has three Patrick Conlan/Conlon baptismal records in 1832 for Co. Roscommon: February 6 February 19 March 25.

Irish immigrants frequently changed their year of birth (and sometimes day and month) when they arrived in their new country.

Not all Roscommon RC parishes have records back to 1832.

Can you locate his parents names?

Roger, sorry so long before signing on. The best we can tell is Patrick's father was John Conlon and he took the family to Wales before Patrick migrated to Canada without the rest of his family. Thanks Ed Deshields

None of the three 1832 records had a father John. There was a March 11 1829 record in Boyle with father John and mother Catherine Beirne. Also, a Patrick Conlin February 9th 1830 in Croghan with father John and mother Anne Brennan. Also, four 1834 records with father John.

General DNA testing might be helpful.
