Coming to Ireland

SligoBallymote (Sligo)

I live in Maryland andwill be in Ireland in Feb 2020 for the Belfast Back to Our Past Genealogy and DNA Conference (14-15 Feb). On the trip, I am also going to the Sligo Research Center 28Feb and have hired them to see if they can find more on my Eliza McGowan family (surnames McGowan and Flynn of Ballymote). I also have McNally, Fearon of Newry, County Down recently discovered through DNA matches and will visit the Museum in Newry. Excited to make my first trip to Ireland!

Hello Terri, hope the trip goes well and you like Ballymote, as your query has not been answered I assume we have no volunteer there, I also see you are interested in County Down and here is a link to a good County Down site http://www.rosdavies.com/ I live about 35 miles from Newry and the names Fearon and McNally are found in the area. There is also a Down Genealogy Facebook page if you wish to join it, I am sure there is one for Sligo too if you look as there appears to be at least one for every county and you may strike lucky, they are private but apply to join and I find they are well moderated and no nonsense is tolerated, like confrontations or challanges etc all nice and friendly.
