Colvin

Cavan

Trying to locate any information on the Colvin family from Drung. I believe Hugh Colvin was born c 1803 to James & Catherine (nee McGoughan) of Drung. Having great difficulties trying to locate any records. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Thank you so much for the reply.  Hugh went into the British Army serving in the west & east indies.  I believe the family were RC.  He did return to Co Cavan where he died.  It seems almost impossible to get birth, marriage & death certs from Ireland.  All rather frustrating.  Thank you once again, Janene

Miriam,  Thank you so much for the information.  The family will be delighted.  Yes, we have his army record.  Once again, thank you, Janene

Hugh Colvin was my 3x great-grandfather. I have his death certificate from Bailieborough but I cannot find where he was buried. I have information about Hugh that I am delighted to share - please just contact me.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Hugh Colvin was my 3x great-grandfather through his son James.

I know from the census his parents were James and Catherine. I am interested in the source that his mother's maiden surname was McGoughan.

I am trying to find more information about his wife Margaret King. The only information I have is their 1850 marriage. Margaret appears to have had a close relative named Daniel King who settled in Rutherglen, Victoria, Australia.
