Cody and Farrell; Combat with Blackthorns!

Found this absolutely fascinating article about a fight on 19 March 1888 "near Roscrea". I'm pretty sure it happened in Bourney Parish, perhaps Kyleannagh or Corriga townlands. Can anyone add any other information please? Prison records from 1888 list four men named Cody, and one named Farrell. Two of the Cody's, Michael & Pat were born in "Kylanan", I suspect that is phonetic spelling of Kyleannagh.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ed, they take their land seriously here, saw a court case involving my own ancestors over a bit of bog, knew they were relatives as the court said they were all family and it was not a fight on that scale.

I suggest you contact this site who may be interested or even have the story on file, https://tipperarystudies.ie/historical-society/

There are a number of private Facebook groups dealing with Tipperary Genealogy and history and it is a story to stir family memories, you could probably see where they lived here https://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/ ; There is a map icon but a bit of jiggling required.
