Hi, I'm looking for any information on Francis Joseph Codd, or Code, or Coad, born in County Wexford in about 1814. I think married Elizabeth Pierce in about 1844, again I think in County Wexford. Family migrated to Tasmania, Australia in 1851 onboard The Cornwall. He was described as a military pensioner. Wife recorded as Elizabeth, children recorded as Bridget, John and Ann.
Greg:
A good number of RC parishes in Co. Wexford do not have records back to 1814. I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and the closest Francis Codd baptismal record was an October 8th 1812 record in Piercestown RC parish, father James Codd and mother Elizabeth Parle.
I did not locate the marriage record but I did find a November 19th baptismal record for a Bridget Codd (born November 18th) with parents Francis Codd and Elizabeth Pierce. The RC parish was Wexford.

Someone has posted a military record for a Francis Codd on Ancestry. Unfortunately, I couldn't copy or transcribe the town name. She suggests it translates to Primestown which is in Tacumshin, Wexford.

Not a secure site but offers details about your family and reinforces Primetown as Francis' birth place.

Hi Greg,
I'm a descendent from Francis Coad, Tasmania. David Coad has written some fabulous books about Cygnet, Tas. One of them "Port Cygnet 1792-1860 A History of Tasmania Vol 1" has a good piece on Francis. Well worth reading and will fill you in on his story.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
