Cleary/Fogarty
TipperaryLoughmore Castleiny (Tipperary)
Hello from Missouri, U.S.! My family & I are planning a trip to Ireland, & I started a journey to hopefully find family still living in Ireland. I have a little information on my heritage but have hit a road block. What I do know:
- My great-great grandfather Thomas Cleary immigrated to the U.S. sometime between 1867-1870
- His parents were John Cleary & Ellen Fogarty
- John Clearys parents were possibly Cornelius Cleary & Mary Carroll. Ellens parents were possibly Patrick Fogarty & Margaret (?) living in Clondoty. The Nenagh genealogy center helped pinned that information down, Im still working to verify through US Death records.
- John & Ellen had 11 children baptized in the Loughmore Castleiny parish between 1845 & 1867. The address on the baptism records shows Aughall for the first two children, Killahara Thurles for the others. I have all of their names if that would help.
- I have linked Thomas Cleary & his siblings to the U.S. except for 3 of his brothers. Two of his brothers, Conor & John, would have been around 20 when their family immigrated. Edit: Conor passed away, most likely around 1852.
- I believe John was born in 1804, Ellen in 1822
- My great-great grandfather, Thomas Cleary, was married in the US to Mary Green. His mother in-law was ElizabethMcGrath from Galway. I will try posting a message on the Galway parish regarding her.
Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated!
