Hi, I know this thread is now even older but I thought I would comment anyway.
My 3x great grandmother was Ellen Clasby whose parents were likely Hugh Clasby and Cecilia/Cecily Healy. She married John Hanberry and they lived at Creggaun, Craughwell before moving with their children to Graig Abbey near Athenry around 1869. I have often wondered if there is any connection between these Clasbys and the Michael Clasby (also from the Craughwell area) who married Ellen Cunniffe and was involved in the Land League.
I do not appear to share any DNA matches with descendants of Michael Clasby and Ellen Cunniffe. However, I do have a DNA match with a Daniel Clasby on Ancestry. Unfortunately I have not managed to communicate with him yet but I wonder if he might be descended from the Daniel Clasby who was the Union Veteran, mentioned above.
My 3x great grandmother Ellen likely had a brother James who married Anne Burke and emigrated from Creggaun around 1866 with their sons, settling in Waltham MA.
Any insights or feedback would be most appreciated. I have done my DNA and have a public tree on Ancestry under Juliette Agnew.
Thank you.
