You don't indicate whether or not Celia left Ireland. When I search the surname McGirney in Co. Mayo on the subscription site Roots Ireland for baptismal records, there are no McGirney records. I get McGinley, Ginley, Ginnelly, Gennelly etc. I did not find any Celia records with those surnames.
I also searched the Griffiths Valuation head of household listing in Co. Mayo and the same surnames come up but no McGirney. Likely her surname was changed in her new country.
Have you considered DNA testing as a way to find matches on your McGirney line?

Hi Roger
Thank you very much for your research. I am trying to find information on Patrick T. Burns- he was born in Dublin March 15, 1852. He was married 1880 and emmigrated to New York . He died 1925 and is buried in Trenton, New Jersey. The grave states he was married to a Catherine Powers born 1859 who died in 1935. So it is possible that he did not marry Celia McGirney or McGinley. I will keep digging - again Thank you.
Larry
