Carruthers/Crothers/Carothers

I am trying to find out information on the Carruthers (various spelling) who moved from Ireland (Dromore I believe) to Ayrshire Scotland.

John Carruthers was born in Ireland in 1804 and married Jane Jess who was born in Ireland on 22/10/1810

I think John's parents were also John (born 1791 in Co Down) and died in Lisburn in 1870 and Margaret (not sure of surname also born in 1791 and died in 1865 in Belfast.

As for Jane I believe her parents were - Alexander Jesse born 1794 in Dromore and died 1881 in Belfast - and Mary E McClaghan born 1792 in Co Down and died in 1881 in Antrim

Did they have other kids?  Is there information to confirm anyone in this line?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

1881 death certificate for Alexander Jesse. His wife was still alive at that date.

I don’t see a death for Mary in or around 1881.

There is a death on the GRONI site for John Carruthers regd in Lisburn. Date of death 6th Apr 1870 age 77. Likewise there’s a Margaret Crothers death regd in Lisburn. Date of death 25th May 1865 aged 67. Neither of those death certificates are free to view. You can view them on the GRONI website for £2.50  each (sterling).

I viewed the document attached - thanks for this

However I am struggling to read parts of it -

The date of death looks like the 24th but the month does not look like April

The address where he died - what he did of

Plus the informant - it gives a name but not a relation - or am I missing something?

Thanks

Sorry I thought you were referring to the 1870 death and had omitted the certificate.

Yes the month is March. Cause of death was “Debility - months. No med att”. So he had been poorly for many months. No medical attendant attended his death. The informant was Ellen McIntire of 29 Fortingale St. Presumably a neighbour or family friend.
