My great-great grandmother Mary Ann Mulrooney supposedly worked in the Carlow workhouse, along with her brother Andrew and sister Catherine. Andrew was born in 1833, Mary Ann in 1834 and Catherinein 1836. All three were born in Bagenalstown.Is there any way that I can access the records tofind out if this was correct? Mary Ann and Catherine immigrated to Australia in the 1850s. Many thanks, Therese Moloney

Here’s some information on Carlow workhouse The Board of Guardian’s minutes from 1845 are apparently held by Carlow Library. Those minutes (weekly management meetings) sometimes mention staff employed there by name. They records are unlikely to be on-line and so you may need to get someone to go through them for you.
