Campbell Family

I am looking for information on the Campbell family.  James Campbell was born in Ireland circa 1835.  He was married in Liverpool in 1859.  His father was Archibald Campbell and according to his marriage certificate they were both Labourers.

They were a Catholic family.

I cannot find any records on them at all in Ireland,  although I realise this is not unusual.

On my DNA results it shows me having Ulster and Northern Ireland.  South East Ulster and Leinster.  South Armagh/Down/North Louth.  Carlingford and Dundalk.  South Down.

This also matches with a first and second cousin from my maternal side.

We also have a small amount of Scotland in our DNA in my case 3%.  Not surprising with a name like Archibald Campbell.

My Grandfather (Campbell) was married to a Connor who state they   were from Wexford County. (No records there either).

Many thanks if you can throw any light on this family but not much to go on.

Here is a James Campbel, born 1824 in Donegal, to Archibald Campbel and Maria Helus. The baptism was in the Church of Ireland.  I'm not sure if this is your ancestor, but it ticks a lot of boxes.  Note that Catholic children were sometimes baptized Protestant, so don't discount this baptism because of the religion.

Name: James Campbel

Date of Baptism: 11-Oct-1824

Parish/District: DONAGHMORE

Gender: Male

County Co. Donegal

Denomination: Church Of Ireland

Father: Archibald Campbel

Mother: Maria Helus
