Buckley family from County Cork, Ireland

Timothy was born in 1814 but served in Civil War? He would have been in his late fifties when it began. Just checking.

Jane, Are you sure that the father of Timothy was William?

At the time that your ancestors lived, most Irish people followed Irish naming patterns. The first son was called after his paternal grandfather, the second after his maternal grandfather, etc.

But Timothy did not have a son called William (unless he is missing from the 1870 and 1880 US censuses for the Buckleys).  His oldest son is Cornelius; maybe that is the name of Timothy's father? Just a thought.
