The place of birth is Altanagh townland, the family appear at this same townland in 1911. Their first child Elizabeth was born at the same townland and registered as Eliza..in 1905
thanks so much, would you also be able to help me find the death record for his father robert? the info i have from wills is that he died 7 march 1925 but when i search groni there doesn’t seem to be any record
In case you don’t have it, here’s Robert senior’s probate abstract. The will itself should be in PRONI.
Wilson Robert of Altanagh Carrickmore county Tyrone farmer died 7 March 1925 Probate Londonderry 5 June to Robert Wilson farmer and the reverend N. St. George Sides clerk. Effects £556 15s.
Assuming he died at or near Altanagh or Carrickmore the only death I see that looks even close is one for a Robert Wilson died 7th February 1925 reported age 80 in Omagh registration district - so right name and area... age is a bit too old and date is a month out.
Only way to check would be to examine place of death, occupation, name and address of informant etc - unfortunately only accessible by purchasing the cert. I suspect it's a little too old, it's possible that the death of 'your' Robert was not registered..
Thank you, also are you able to find a record of the 1925 Robert’s father like a death record or something like that i know his father was John Wilson
The Valuation Revision records show the farm changing from John Wilson’s name to Charles Wilson in 1873, then David in 1875 and finally Robert in 1876. Suggests John had died by 1873.
I don’t see a probate abstract for him.
Deaths from 1864 to 1870 are still pay to view. There’s quite a few in that period that could fit. 1871 to 1873 are viewable free but I don’t see one for John. Suspect he died 1870, or earlier. The Griffiths clerks were often a year or two behind in updating their records so 1873 is just when they learned of the change of tenant, not when the change took place.
