Barrett Family Fermoy, Co Cork

CorkFermoy (Cork)

Hi Abbie

Terence Barrett son of Richard and Margaret Barrett was my grand-uncle. I live in Youghal and recognised all the info on your messages.  Please connect as I have some information for you.  Richard and Margargaret came from Newcastle West in Co. Limerick and Richard was the first school teacher/principal at Kilmurry school near Kilworth and Fermoy in 1861. The second Barrett Tobacconist shop was here in Youghal where I live.  Richard and Margaret are buried here in Youghal. He died in 1908.

Cecilia, Abby,

A number of years ago there was a book published on Kilmurry National School. It doesn't mention much about Richard, the first teacher, but it is interesting nonetheless. Contact me (at kieranjordanie@gmail.com) if you don't have a copy and would like a photocopy.

Best wishes, Kieran Jordan
