Archibald McDonald

Hello to All.

Can I have some help in finding some more information with regards to Archibald McDonald.

He died in 1840 and is buried in Mount Jerome Cemetery. I have some relevant information about his career but missing birth and marriage dates. I have located this marriage record and would like to know how to confirm this is the Archibald I am looking for.

Also from the original record can you identify his parish. As a child he lived in the Wormwood Gate.

The file below was discovered in Irish Genealogy Church records with the year. 1839. Prior to this date Archibald had as son Charles around 1835

If any further information is required I can attach what I know.

Thanks Doug McDonald

The marriage took place at St. Mary's Church of Ireland which was on Mary street in Dublin North City. An image of the register entry is available on the IrishGenealogy site - see the last entry on this page The record gives some further information - Arichibald was resident in St. Michan's parish, and Henrietta in 'this parish', i.e. St. Mary's - marriages generally took place in the bride's parish.

St. Michan's Parish was immediately west of St. Mary's and also Dublin North City, Wormwood gate was on the border of St. Audeon and St. Catherine's parishes in Dublin South City not that far from St. Michan's and just across the river Liffey

Doug,

I did not find any record for the baptism of a Charles McDonald, with a father named Archibald, in any COI parish in Dublin. Do you have more information on him? Nor did I find a baptism record for Archibald in Dublin COI parishes, and they go back pretty far. There are a number of Ancestry trees that show his parent's and sibling's names as well as Henrietta's, but the documentation to prove it is not there. There is a baptism record for a Henrietta Walsh in 1815 in the RC parish of St. Mary's Dublin....not sure it is the one you are looking for. The sole record for Charles McDonald is an 1851 English census record where he is living with his uncle, James McDonald. Again, not certain this is your Charles. There is a note in Archibald's profile on his death date that shows he was a solicitor.

Regards,

Carolyn
