Anthony G. Sidley born in co. Cork on 10 July 1796

I have a copy of the service record for Anthony G. Sidley from The National Archives in Kew. He joined the Army aged 15 and was awarded one year's pay for being wounded at the Battle of Waterloo. He also served in the East Indies. He married Anna Maria Fraser at Clement Danes in London.on 30 June ? 1837. I am trying to determine his birthplace and subsequent life after 1829.

I have seen an apothecary named Anthony K. Sidley in Kantuk.

Is anyone able to provide this information.

I am undertaking a one-name study on SIDLEY and variants. My own connection is with the Middlesex England Sidleys.

What religious denomination was Anthony G.?

I located a RC marriage record in Cork city in 1791 for an Anthony Sidley. Possible father?

Find My Past (subscription site) has a good deal of information on Anthony Kyrie Sidney who was likely your apothecary. Below the 1791 marriage record are the 1879 death index record for Anthony K and the civil index record for his 1845 marriage to Juliana Cooper. This Anthony would have been non-RC for only non-RC marriages were civilly registered from 1845-1863.

Thank you Juliana ( and Roger?).  I believe Anthony G. Sidley was not RC as he married in the Anglican Church of St. Clement Danes in London.

He was born in a place in Co. Cork that looks like Icorl.  I cannot locate this.

Hi Jan I come to this 5 years late! I collaborated a couple of years ago on an article for The Irish Genealogist on the history of the Sidley/Sedley family, who are among my ancestors. If your research is still active I would be happy and interested to hear about your 'one-name' study, and to share the Irish Genealogist article with you if you have not already seen it. By the way, I believe that Anthony Gardiner Sidley and Anthony Kyrle Sidley were second cousins: great-grandchildren of one of the many Henry Sidleys and Frances Anne Deal. Hello Mike, better late than never. Thank you for contacting me. I have just arranged with the Guild of One Name Studies to put my research on hold, however, I would love to see the Irish Genealogist article.
I do not know how the Irish Sidleys connect with my Middlesex Sidleys. My research shows the majority of the Sidleys are/were in Cheshire.
However I have found many references to the Sidleys and the DeBurgh Sidleys from Ireland.
I am not able to attach the word files relating to Anthony Gardiner but if you would care to send me your email address I will send you two documents that I am sure you will find interesting.
The problem with researching Sidleys is that there is a town in East Sussex named Sidley which does confuse things. My research is aimed mainly at trying to establish where they all originated.
